Alesana’s New Album, “The Emptiness,” in Review

After months of speculation, Alesana finally released their new album, “The Emptiness,” January 26, 2010.  The third full length album features new guitarist Jake Cambell, who replaced vocalist/guitarist Adam Ferguson.  Contributing guest vocals to the album is Melissa Mike, sister of member Shawn Mike.

Alesana’s previous albums have been known to reference the mythology of different cultures, but “The Emptiness” marks the band’s first concept album.  The story the album tells is based on Edgar Allan Poe’s letters sent to his wife and his last poem “Annabel Lee.”  The songs vary in style as they unfold a plot of murder and time travel.  Fans can expect an increase in complexity in regards to the album’s composition, while staying true to the band’s metalcore melodic/screaming vocals.

Alesana has just wrapped up their US “Emptiness Tour” and announced they will be making Alesana tickets available for the tour overseas!  For dates and more information, check out their official website, alesanaofficial.com.  Keep checking back for more Alesana news!

While the band was live on stage, Shawn said the new album would be out on Jan. 26, 2010! WTF?! It seems fans will have to wait a wee bit longer…
